NEW YEARS EVE 2010 FIRE WORKS IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA #1

Welcome to our 2008 Fireworks display, the first at our new home in Earlham, IA. This year, we electrically scripted the entire show (Go Kevin!), and fired 3″, 4″, 5″, and 6″ shells, as well as a variety of cakes and candles. Many thanks to Kevin, Chuck, Angi, and Abby for making it all happen, to Lamont and Steve for our feast, and my loving wife Kelly for her love, help, and support of her husband’s crazy hobby. Thanks to Don Bailey for taking this great video.

Very moving performance on 23 august 1991 of Handels Music for the Royal Fireworks by a huge baroque band on period instruments, consisting of 24 oboes, 16 bassoons, 1 contra-bassoon, 9 trumpets, 9 horns, 3 pairs of timpani and 5 drums, conducted by Robert King.
The Ouverture is enlightened in this broadcast by the BBC by a dramatization in paper cut-outs of the events at the very first performance during which because of the improperly handled fireworks the concert pavillion was burned down.
The recording with my old Telefunken machine has a slightly overmodulated sound, but it is not too disturbing and does not harm the overall grandioseness and beautiful splendor of the performance.

So I married this guy’s daughter. She said he liked to light off some Fireworks on the fourth of July. I thought… yeah… whatever… me too… Then I witnessed it. He’s tossing quarter sticks with his hand… walking away from lit shells (the big professional ones that shoot out of huge PVC based in buckets of sand). I was pretty impressed… until I saw his annual finale – which varies but is usually at least 2 giant rolls of Firecrackers strung up the telephone pole in fron of his house. The sound was insane. The whole neighborhood claps at the end. In fact, their whole neighborhood is insane on the fourth. It’s like a warzone. People come to his neighborhood from Chicago just to see the stuff that goes on up and down their street – with the finale of course being Crazy Bill’s telephone pole of fury. Being a pasty geek, rather than getting involved with all that danger, I made a video for him instead. Enjoy.

Me and some friends lit 1440 Sparklers at once. We were too close to catch the whole thing but it will do.
